So you’re ready to add some crystals to your collection, or maybe you’re looking to get your collection started. Shopping for stones is, in our opinion, the most exciting kind of shopping, but there’s a few things to keep in mind before you start your shopping spree.

Before you go crystal shopping, there are a few things to consider that might make your shopping experience run a little smoother, and ensure your shopping experience is smooth sailing.

Are you shopping in person or online?

Starting with the basics, you’ve got to decide if you’re going to a crystal shop in store, or purchasing from one of the many online crystal retails. While in some areas, shopping online doesn’t make much of a difference, in crystal shopping it can definitely change the experience. When shopping in person, you get to see and touch the crystals to feel them both physically and energetically, while shopping online you’ll have access to stones that might not be available at your local metaphysical store. 

Are you purchasing from a reputable crystal shop?

So you’ve decided how you want to shop, now it’s time to choose where you want to shop. Are you shopping somewhere with good reviews? Do people have good experiences here? Do you feel good when you’re in the space? These are all important things to consider when choosing where to buy your crystals.

Purchasing from a reputable crystal shop ensures you’re getting real crystals that are both high quality and ethically and consciously sourced. 

What do you want the crystal for?

And now the fun part…What are you looking for your crystals to do for you? What energy are you looking to bring into your life? How can your crystal collection support you in your growth? This is where some research comes into play. Find a book or a website that you can trust and see what calls to you! This is where the exciting part of crystal shopping begins, so take your time to find stones you like that fit the gaps in your collection you’re looking to fill. 

Crystal shops can be overwhelming, so having an idea, even a vague idea, of what you’re looking for before you go in can make it a more calming experience.

This is an often overlooked part of the crystal buying process, but can be one of the most important parts of buying crystals. Are you shopping with your intuition? I know we just talked about how important research can be before you go crystal shopping, but there’s a balance! Your intuition is a valuable resource, so don’t discount it. 

This can look different to everyone, but a great place to start is by letting your gut lead you around the store or website, and if you’re shopping in person, picking up the stones that call to you and seeing how you feel. Is it pulling you in? Or pushing you out?
