Pink opal is a soft, milky pink, closer to the inside of a shell than to the flashier opals people picture when they hear the name, since this variety doesn't carry that rainbow shimmer. It's a tender stone, one for the parts of healing that don't look like progress from the outside, grief that's still soft, a heart that's still guarded even after the worst of it has passed. Hold it against your chest during a quiet moment at the end of a hard day, or keep it on a nightstand while you're relearning how to let people in. The pink comes from natural trace minerals caught in the stone as it formed, and this piece is left in its raw, uncut form rather than polished smooth, so the surface still shows its natural texture.
