Petrified wood is a piece of tree that turned into stone over millions of years, and you can still see the grain of the wood in it. Browns, tans, sometimes reds and blacks running in bands. Flat on both sides, sized for a thumb to rest on.

The stone people reach for when they want to remember that the long view is real. Petrified wood carries an older, quieter kind of patience than many stones do. Good in the palm during a season of waiting. Good on a desk during work that will not pay off for a while. Good in a pocket on days you're being asked to trust a slow process.

Fossilized ancient wood where the organic material was gradually replaced by silica minerals over geologic time. Each piece shows different grain and color banding.
