Palo Santo Stick

A short stick of warm honey-gold wood, sometimes streaked with deeper red and amber. Light one end and let it catch, then blow the flame out and let the ember smolder. The smoke that rises is sweet, citrusy, a little like a sun-warmed pine forest after rain.

Palo Santo means "holy wood" in Spanish, and the trees grow wild across parts of South America, where Indigenous communities have used the wood as part of ceremony for centuries. The stick burns slow. A single one will scent a whole room for ten or fifteen minutes and can be relit again and again until it's gone.

Good for cleansing a space after a hard day, marking the start of a ritual, settling the air before sleep, or just because the smell is incredible. Burn over a heatproof dish or shell. Never leave it unattended.
