Carnelian Tumble

Carnelian is warm orange, sometimes leaning red, sometimes closer to honey. Held up to light, some pieces glow through, others are more solid. The tumbles polish to a satiny finish that catches the sun.

People pick up carnelian when they want to get moving on something they've been sitting on. It has a reputation for lit-from-inside motivation, the kind that helps you do the thing rather than talk yourself out of it. Good on a desk during creative work. Good in a pocket on the morning you're finally starting the project. Good in the palm before a workout, a performance, or any moment you want to show up warm and unafraid.

A chalcedony colored by iron oxide, mostly from Brazil, India, and Madagascar.
