Ruby in zoisite is green stone shot through with deep red, two minerals grown together rather than one stone dyed to look like two. It's a piece for holding opposite things at once, grief and joy, fear and excitement, without needing to resolve them into one clean feeling before you're ready to. The red is natural ruby corundum grown inside a matrix of green zoisite, which is where the name comes from, and the proportion of red to green varies piece to piece.
